Many students struggle with language and essay-based subjects because there are many instances in which they must provide spontaneous responses about their opinions. They study quotes and vocabulary but are not always aware of their feelings about texts or particular topics.
One thing I have learnt through my years of tutoring is the importance of letting students speak. I have had many sessions where I am not discussing an exam question or going over grammar techniques - I just let my students talk.
I believe that education is one of the few places where young people should be able to articulate themselves and engage in healthy conversation about their opinions - especially their opinions about what they are learning.
Unfortunately, there is not enough school staff and time in the day to ensure that every student is heard.
That is where Tapas Tutoring comes in.
Our lessons cover the essentials but also bring students the life skill of communication. I have seen how letting students discuss their subjects, their opinions and their takes on what they have learnt enables them to better articulate themselves in exam situations as well as in their social settings.
I have had countless feedback on how my methods and techniques have brought a transformation in how students’ are operating both within and outside of the classroom.
